Course description

‘The Effective Management of an NGO’ is an online course designed to assist voluntary organisation executives and staff in meeting the challenges of managing an organisation. It aims at improving their capacity to increase their social impact, achieve their goals, and be sustainable over time.

The course is free of charge, designed as a self-learn programme, where users can log in and follow the course at their own pace throughout the whole ACF Malta programming period.

The course was created and is provided by Advenio eAcademy. AeA is a Higher Education Institution (HEI) based in Malta, (NCFHE Licence number: 2013-FHI-0006) which caters for an international clientele of discerning educational service providers and learners.

The programme provides details of core concepts and theories and most importantly offers a pragmatic perspective for their implementation within the NGO environment. The course includes five modules:

  1. Key NGO Challenges – sustainable development, legislation and compliance, legal framework, fundraising and grant proposals and ICT infrastructures. 
  2. Management – the challenges of planning, organising, control and leadership;
  3. Marketing and Campaigning – identifying the core end-users and focusing on delivering value to the key stakeholder groups;
  4. Human Resources Management – building organisation structures that allow for the attraction and retention of talent; and
  5. Financial Management – the essential framework to the development of systems and processes that reflect the organisation’s ability to manage its financial resources effectively in meeting the organisational goals and objective.

Who can register for the course?

The course is open to all persons involved in the running of voluntary organisations in Malta or informal groups aspiring to become registered organisations.

The organisation can register a minimum of one and up to three members of staff to follow the programme due to the diversity of the areas covered by the five modules of the course.

Participation is mandatory for beneficiary organisations (including partners) of ACF Malta funds.
